Obama admits his health care bill will lead to single payer, again

Even more evidence that ObamaCare is just a waystation on the twisted road to socialized health care. Obama met with progressive Democrats on Thursday who were worried that his bill wouldn't wreck the health care system fast enough. Obama gave particular attention to Rep. Dennis Kucinich, one of two House Dems who voted against ObamaCare because they wanted a more progressive bill. (The other is Eric Massa, who's getting treated a bit differently by the White House.) Kucinich, you see, supports a single payer system.

But, said one attendee, Obama pointed Kucinich toward single-payer language that Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was able to get into the bill. Kucinich fought for an amendment that would allow states to adopt single-payer systems without getting sued by insurance companies. Obama told Kucinich that Sanders's measure was similar but doesn't kick in for several years. "He definitely wrote it down," said one member of Kucinich, suggesting that he'd look into it.

Kucinich specifically introduced his amendment in the hopes that states would start setting up single payer systems. Eventually, those would evolve into a single national insurance bureaucracy. Bernie Sanders, who introduced the Senate version, is a self-proclaimed socialist. Obama can't use words that direct now that he's been elected president, but he did hint at his real intentions while with the progressives.

Obama argued to the group of progressive members that his health care reform bill should be looked at as the foundation of reform, that can be built on in the future. He asked them to help gather votes for the final health care battle and promised that as soon as the bill was signed into law, he'd continue to push to make it stronger.

In other words, this is only the beginning. It might take years or even decades, but eventually ObamaCare will bloom into a nationalized health system.

In fact, that's exactly what Obama said on the campaign trail a few years ago. Once again speaking in front of savvy progressives, he admitted that a public option would ultimately lead to a single payer system, which he supports. Here's the video:

Obama's latest health care plan -- the socialist option

Obama's attempt to reform health care has destroyed his poll numbers, ruined Democrats' chances in the November elections, and energized conservatives everywhere. What's a radical left-wing president to do in this situation? Introduce an even more statist health care plan!

The president released his newest health care initiative yesterday and is now threatening to ram it through Congress using reconciliation. You've probably heard that the bill doesn't contain a public option, which is true. But there's plenty more horrible things in the bill that have been underreported. Here's what you need to know.

-- The excise tax on so-called "Cadillac" (meaning expensive) health care plans is still there. This is based on the left's theory that the government can tax the hell out of everything rich people do and not affect anyone else. But Cadillac plans are also used by many middle-class people who want good coverage. Unions also use these plans. Obama's been going around complaining about how health care in America isn't good. Now he turns around and slaps a huge tax on the best American health care plans. As even the liberal blog FireDogLake reported, "The excise tax in the Senate bill would tax many middle class health care plans, making coverage worse and more expensive."

-- The unconstitutional individual mandate, which would force everyone to buy health insurance, is even worse than before. Under the House and Senate bills, everyone would have to pay a portion of their income as a tax if they choose not to get health insurance. Now, "The President's Proposal raises the percent of income that is an alternative payment amount from 0.5 to 1.0% in 2014, 1.0 to 2.0% in 2015, and 2.0 to 2.5% for 2016 and subsequent years – the same percent of income as in the House bill, which makes the assessment more progressive." By "progressive," Obama means "bigger tax increases."

-- There are now price controls for insurance companies. Obama's plan creates something called the Health Insurance Rate Authority, which is more like a panel of czars. The HIRA can force insurance companies to lower premiums whenever they feel like it. This is why the public option was kept out. It wasn't needed. If the federal government can decide the price of health insurance, there's no need for so-called "competition" from the government. This would amount to the government taking over the entire health insurance industry.

At last, the president's cards are on the table. He has no interest in letting anyone "choose" their health care or providing "competition". This is about the government controlling one-sixth of the United States economy. This is about socialism.

Obama's health police swing into action

At his State of the Union address, Barack Obama promised to tackle the problem of childhood obesity. Today, he signed a presidential memorandum creating a creepy Orwellian "task force" to think up ideas on how to keep kids from getting fat.

The memorandum is one of the most sinister documents Obama has ever released, and that's saying something. According to the president, "My Administration is committed to redoubling our efforts to solve the problem of childhood obesity within a generation through a comprehensive approach that builds on effective strategies, engages families and communities, and mobilizes both public and private sector resources." How exactly does one "solve" the "problem" of childhood obesity? Send SWAT teams to kick down Burger King doors? In Great Britain, the government sticks a camera in your living room if they don't think you're parenting properly. Is that what's in our future?

Obesity might seem like a personal problem that's none of the government's business. Not so in Barack Obama's America. As Obama warns in his memorandum, "Without effective intervention, many more children will endure serious illnesses that will put a strain on our health-care system." This is the road to socialism mapped out as clearly as you'll ever see. Obama is pushing for a government-run health care system. If that happens, everyone will be subsidizing everyone else's health problems. If you're overweight, you'll become a strain on the system.

What a chilling reminder of Obama's nanny statism. As Rudy Giuliani said today, "I find it strange this administration is uncomfortable saying 'war on terrorism' but is eager to embrace a 'war on obesity.'"
