NBC finally mentions safe schools czar

Thanks to Newsbusters, we now know that NBC has finally mentioned safe schools czar Kevin Jennings. The progressive news network ignored him when it surfaced that he advised a young student who had a sexual encounter with an older man in a bus station to use a condom. And when it was revealed that his group GLSEN was teaching young students sexual acts during special seminars. And when GLSEN posted a reading list that included gay pornographic material. But with the recent spate of bullying at a Massachusetts school that led to a student's suicide, NBC Nightly News finally found face time for Jennings.

ROSSEN: In Springfield, Massachusetts, a young boy hanged himself last year after being teased about his size. In Ohio, Jessie Logan hanged herself after a nude photo was spread around her school. Experts say warning signs are often there.

BARBARA COLOROSO: They hang up from their phone and they're sad or sullen, they get off the Internet and they look a little frightened, these are all clues that you and I as parents need to be clued in to.

ROSSEN: And education officials are worried, too, worried bullying is causing a drop in the graduation rate. Now the federal government is pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into a new anti-bullying campaign.

KEVIN JENNINGS (United States Department of Education): What keeps me up at night, and everyone in the US Department of Education, is the idea that out there there are children who'd rather die than go to school.

No comment was afforded to parents kept up at night from having their children taught "fisting" at one of Jennings' seminars. The report also promoted Jennings' $410 million anti-bullying campaigns without mentioning their real intent. The initiative is aimed at grading schools based on "climate" -- specifically how gay-friendly the schools are. Schools that fully incorporate LGBT themes into the curriculum would be rated as "inclusive" while schools that didn't would fail. All this is at the exclusion of Catholic schools, which are expressly forbidden from promoting gay lifestyles.

NBC is owned by General Electric. GE's CEO, Jeffrey Immelt, is an ardent Obama backer and sits on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve. His closeness to the administration has helped GE win lucrative health care and green energy contracts with the government. NBC's sister station, MSNBC, is a bastion of Obama adoration and regularly attacks the administration's critics.

The radio socialism in our future

MSNBC host and progressive radio talker Ed Schultz took to the airwaves earlier this week to call for radio socialism.

The fact is, look, it's not a level playing field when it comes to the audio culture of the country. Ownership has its privileges. When you own, I will be honest, if I owned 500 stations, the drugster wouldn't be on any of 'em. And that's just where it's at right now. But maybe we have reached the point where the Congress needs to equal it out. Equal out the audience.

And so, I think that, you know, hell, if we're going to be socialist, let's be socialist all across the board.

Schultz works for the Obama-obsessed MSNBC, which is owned by General Electric. GE's president, Jeffrey Immelt, sits on the Federal Reserve and has secured several special deals for GE from the Obama Administration at the expense of competitors. Both MSNBC and Schultz are lagging behind conservative competitors in the ratings. How long until Immelt leans on Obama to right that wrong? Obama's diversity czar at the FCC is already trying to make Schultz's dream a reality by supporting an initiative to tax large radio companies and redistribute the wealth to smaller, minority-owned stations.

Radio socialism has support in Congress. Rep. Louise Slaughter, of recent health care fame, introduced a bill in 2004 that would reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. Under Obama, the Democrats in Congress just nationalized the student loan industry and the health care industry in a single weekend. Does anyone doubt that they would do the same for the country's airwaves?

Is ObamaCare a huge payback to the health industry?

Barack Obama spent the past year demonizing health insurance companies in an effort to pass ObamaCare. But something funny happened when he signed the bill yesterday, as the Washington Examiner reported.

[E]ven before the president spoke, the Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers of America -- whose $26.1 million lobbying effort in 2009 was the most expensive by any industry lobby in history -- hailed the health package as "important and historic."

The second-biggest industry lobby in America, the American Medical Association, also cheered, as did the American Hospital Association, the No. 5 industry lobby. Throw in the goliath senior lobby AARP and Beltway powerhouse General Electric, and you realize Obama's underdog tale is all bark and no bite.

The close ties between Obama and the AARP and GE have been detailed here before. Obama's friend A. Barry Rand heads up the AARP and cleaned up thanks to the stimulus. Jeffrey Immelt, president of GE, runs the Obama-obsessed cable network MSNBC and has been appointed by the president to the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve.

But why is the Pharmaceutical Researchers and Manufacturers of America, the American Medical Association, and the American Hospital Association hailing ObamaCare? Aren't these the very industries Obama wanted restrained? The fact is that when ObamaCare goes into law, it will become much more difficult to start a health insurance or medical company in America. The new regulations in Obama's plan will cost businesses millions. The industry behemoths, like Blue Cross Blue Shield, can easily pay that bill. Smaller companies and new start ups don't have that kind of money. It's why PhRMA struck a deal with Obama so early in the health care fight. They knew his plan would shore up existing business and preserve the status quo by keeping smaller businesses at bay. And with an insurance mandate requiring everyone in America to get health insurance, the big boys will have millions of new potential customers.

The Examiner points out the other goodies for big business in the bill.

Taxpayers will subsidize drug makers even more.

Employers will be forced to give prescription-drug insurance to workers.

Generic versions of biologic drugs will be kept off the market for 12 years.

States will be forced to subsidize drugs through Medicaid.

Americans will still be prohibited from importing cheaper drugs from China.

Medicare will continue overpaying for drugs.

Obama received $6.5 million more in his campaign coffers from the health industry than did McCain, as well as an additional $3.3 million from hospitals and nursing homes. This was during an election in which he vigorously supported the same health care reform plan that he signed yesterday. The big corporations knew all along what Obama was up to and they donated big bucks. After yesterday, they'll reap the rewards.

GE: We bring evil to life!

Remember those commercials from the 1980s that showed average Americans using General Electric products while a singer crooned in the background, "GE: We bring good things to life"? They've come a long, long way.

Yesterday we reported on Obama's incestuous relationship with GE which gets kickbacks from BHO by supporting his agenda. Today brings news that Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and crazed Climate Change Czar Carol Browner are hunkered down in a meeting with lobbyists. The subject is how to bring the president's failing cap-and-tax bill back to life. Only two CEOs attended the meeting, and one was GE's Jeffrey Immelt.

Yes, the most transparent administration in American history is holding closed-door meetings with powerful CEOs to discuss how to screw over the rest of it. Immelt has good reason to support the cap-and-tax nonsense. GE's so-called "green business" made the company $17 billion in 2008, a 21% increase over the previous year. (Numbers for 2009 are not yet available.) Most recently, GE secured a $1.4 billion contract to build a 30 square mile wind farm in Oregon, the largest on the planet.

Meanwhile GE continues stroking Obama's back. Last night, MSNBC talking head Keith Olbermann nearly lost his cookies attacking conservatives who disagree with Obama on global warming.

It's all about money. Follow it, and you'll usually find Barack Hussein Obama lurking somewhere in the shadows. Now, thanks to his administration, GE has gone from being a company as American as apple pie to a rotten apple carrying out the will of the state.

NBC jumps in bed with Obama

As Barack Obama's fortunes and poll numbers fall, the commentators over at cable network MSNBC have been hitting the roof. Over the past month, Chris Matthews has compared the GOP to the Khmer Rouge, Ed Schultz has encouraged Massachusetts Democrats to try to vote more than once, and Keith Olbermann has called Scott Brown "an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, teabagging supporter of violence against woman and against politicians with whom he disagrees."

MSNBC has been a ratings loser for Barack Obama's entire presidency, yet its hosts keep sucking up to the president and attacking his critics. Even the supposed "hard news" reporters on NBC, like Andrea Mitchell and David Gregory, spout left-wing garbage. It's no coincidence. NBC has become a propaganda shop for Obama because Obama is offering kickbacks to NBC.

MSNBC is part of NBC which is owned by General Electric. GE's CEO, Jeffrey Immelt, is a long-time Obama supporter who has expressed support for the president's cap-and-tax baloney. His lip service has paid off. Since Obama was elected, Immelt has been appointed to the president's Economic Recovery Advisory Board and to the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve.

Before his promotion to CEO of GE in 2000, Immelt was head of GE Medical Services, more commonly known as GE Healthcare. As an economic advisor to the president during the health care debate, CEO of a company with a health care division, and the former head of that very health care division, Immelt represents a flaming conflict of interest. Additionally, the president's stimulus set aside billions of dollars to fund the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. HITECH requires medical providers to hand over patient information to the federal government. Shortly after the stimulus was passed, GE Healthcare sent out a press release announcing a new program called Stimulus Simplicity that would help hospitals adopt electronic medical records. GE stood to make heaps of money from this initiative.

Then there was the behind-the-scenes lobbying by GE to apply for a government program that "sought to unfreeze credit markets by guaranteeing debt sold by banking firms," according to the Washington Post. GE initially didn't qualify because, as you may have noticed, GE is not a bank. But thanks to a little strings-pulling by Jeffrey Immelt, the Obama administration loosened the rules. "As a result, GE has joined major banks collectively saving billions of dollars by raising money for their operations at lower interest rates," the Post reported. Even though, again, GE is not even a damn bank.

This is classic Obama cronyism on a massive scale. Jeffrey Immelt and his commentators on MSNBC praise Barack Obama every night, and in return Immelt gets appointed to prestigious positions and his company gets crooked financial deals. Remember this next time you turn on one of MSNBC's political programs. The entire network has been bought off by Barack Obama.
